In the before picture, you can see the subtle signs of winter’s lingering effects—dullness and a congested energy. After the cleanse, the change is undeniable: a radiant glow, a lighter appearance, and a renewed vitality that reflects both inner balance and enhanced digestion. This visual transformation mirrors the internal cleansing of toxins and the clearing of excess Kapha, which had accumulated over the colder months.

Cleansing the Digestive Tract

Our digestive system is the cornerstone of health in Ayurveda, where Agni (the digestive fire) plays a crucial role in metabolizing food and extracting essential nutrients. During the cleanse, a carefully designed diet featuring gentle, easily digestible foods gave my digestive system a much-needed rest. The focus on a mono-diet centered around nourishing kitchari—with its harmonious blend of basmati rice, mung beans, and a bounty of detoxifying vegetables—allowed my body to efficiently break down food and eliminate toxins (ama). This reset helped clear sluggish digestion and paved the way for a more robust metabolism.


Clearing the Kapha Build-Up


Winter tends to accumulate Kapha dosha—characterized by heaviness, congestion, and stagnation—which can leave us feeling sluggish and weighed down. By embracing the Ayurvedic spring cleanse, I effectively cleared this build-up. The cleanse not only lightened my physical appearance but also infused my body with warmth and lightness. Alongside the nourishing kitchari, I incorporated green juice rich in antioxidants and fresh vegetables, which further supported the removal of excess Kapha and stimulated circulation. As Agni strengthened, my body’s ability to metabolize food improved significantly, resulting in better energy levels, enhanced clarity, and even a noticeable glow in my skin.
